Terms of Service

Superlingual provides Chinese reading practice and related learning tools: graded readings, vocabulary lists, revision lists, posts, a community forum, optional pronunciation practice, and an iOS app. Features may change, and some content is limited to signed-in users or members.

Superlingual is an educational aid. Translations, pinyin, stroke order, and pronunciation scores can be incomplete or wrong. Do not rely on them as professional language instruction or as the sole source of meaning.

You can sign in with Google or Microsoft. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You are responsible for activity on your account. Keep access to your Google or Microsoft account secure, and tell us if you think someone else is using your Superlingual account.

We may refuse, suspend, or close an account if we believe these terms have been broken, if we need to protect the service or other users, or if the service is discontinued.

You agree not to:

• Break the law or infringe other people’s rights
• Harass, threaten, or impersonate others
• Post spam, malware, or content that is illegal or clearly abusive
• Try to access other people’s accounts or non-public parts of the service
• Scrape, overload, or interfere with Superlingual except as allowed by robots.txt and ordinary browsing
• Use automated means to create accounts or post content without our permission

You keep ownership of text and other material you post (for example on the forum). You grant Superlingual a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, display, and distribute that content as part of operating the service.

You are responsible for what you post. Do not post material you do not have the right to share. We may remove or restrict content, and we may act on reports, but we do not undertake to review everything in advance.

Readings, word lists, software, branding, and other Superlingual materials are owned by us or our licensors. You may use them for personal language study through the service. You may not copy, republish, or commercially exploit them except as we expressly allow.

Some readings and posts are marked for members. Membership is granted by Superlingual and may change. Members-only access is not a promise that any particular title will stay available.

Pronunciation practice is optional. If you use it, you allow Superlingual to access your microphone and to send audio to Microsoft Azure Speech so it can be scored. You should only record your own voice.

We aim to keep Superlingual available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may change, suspend, or stop features. Learning progress stored in your account may be lost if we have a fault or if you delete your account.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by Australian law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Superlingual and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to AUD $100, or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, whichever is greater.

You can stop using Superlingual at any time and request account deletion by emailing hello@superlingual.com. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) continue after the agreement ends.

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. If you continue to use Superlingual after an update, the new terms apply.

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Courts in Australia will have jurisdiction, except that you may still bring a claim in the courts of your home country if the law of that country requires it.
